Ann Coulter is the “Buffalo Chip of the Week” (10/8-10/14)

Why is Ann Coulter given a forum to spew her hate speech? She sells papers and she gets ratings, that’s why. She writes one of her crappy books and you see her all over TV and print. The mainstream media doesn’t acknowledge that Coulter is negative and offensive. They want her because she’ll say something outrageous. She’s controversial because her remarks are bigoted, racist and xenophobic. Hate mongers like Coulter don’t add to the discourse of politics. They throw a monkey wrench into the whole process which makes political debate and commentary look like a circus. Free speech is very important, but lying and promoting fear and hate is destructive. If the media wasn’t driven by advertising dollars and sales, people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly would be shunned and ignored as the charlatans they are (in a decent society).

There are people who are fans of these types of mouthpieces for modern McCarthyism. I can only hope that these people are under some type of mass hypnosis brought on by the repetitious watching and listening of this garbage being beamed into their homes and cars. Red Baiting was popular about 50 years ago. An accuser could gain power and influence by using fear and hate. The general public in the 1950’s eventually caught on and red-baiting withered away. I hope the general public will soon catch on and realize that Coulter and her cabal are the noise that fuel the hate machine of the far right.

Ann Coulter’s latest controversy occurred on CNBC’s “The Big Idea” with Donny Deutsch. You can read the full transcript and watch the video at Media Matters or click here. Here’s part of the conversation where Ann says that everyone should be Christian:

DEUTSCH: That isn’t what I said, but you said I should not — we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or –

COULTER: Yeah.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Well, it’s a lot easier. It’s kind of a fast track.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.

DEUTSCH: You can’t possibly believe that.

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: You can’t possibly — you’re too educated, you can’t — you’re like my friend in -

COULTER: Do you know what Christianity is? We believe your religion, but you have to obey.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, but I mean –

COULTER: We have the fast-track program.

DEUTSCH: Why don’t I put you with the head of Iran? I mean, come on. You can’t believe that.

Why is Ann Coulter still being recognized as an author or commentator. She has nothing of value to offer.
